It begins with my grandmother, a remarkable island cook whose hands brought life to every meal and comfort to every table. Her recipes—born in the heart of Haiti and seasoned with the vibrant soul of Trinidad—were more than instructions; they were acts of love, tradition, and survival.

Over time, she lovingly entrusted those recipes to me, and as the years passed, the dishes naturally evolved—subtly influenced by the twists of my own life, the paths I’ve walked, and the ever-present memory of my grandmother. Yet, the soul of those flavors remained unchanged. These recipes did more than feed me—they told the story of my roots, preserved the wisdom of generations past, and kept the spirit of my heritage alive at every meal.

But our company journey began with a deeply personal turn when my youngest daughter began facing unexplained health issues. For years, she silently struggled with ongoing digestive discomfort; searching for answers that never seemed to come. It wasn’t until her mid-twenties that we finally got an answer—a severe wheat allergy. That discovery was life-changing; The foods that once brought joy and comfort to us, were now a source of harm to her. In that moment, everything shifted and I knew we had to find a new way forward—one that honored our traditions while protecting her health.

What started as a mother’s determination to help her child enjoy food again—without fear, discomfort, or flavor sacrifice—evolved into something far more powerful. It became a mission: to reimagine the dishes we loved in a way that nourished the body while honoring our cultural heritage. We wanted her—and others like her—to experience the same warmth, boldness, and island comfort we grew up with, minus the ingredients that triggered harm.

That deeply personal journey became the heartbeat of the Island of Kreyòl Brand.
